Taking the lyrics from the track “Why?”, the vocals were performed by Hal Ritson, a little known name that has worked alongside some the industry’s biggest. Sampling the song “Smalltown Boy”, the unforgettable instrumental basis was formed. Already renowned for their disk-jockeying abilities, their move to the creation of new material of mainstream appeal was one closely watched by the scene. Incorporating two tracks from Bronski Beat’s ‘The Age of Consent’ album, it demonstrated Axwell and Angello’s evolving studio production prowess. Not only because it charted highly for a single from the genre at the time, but also because it was major stepping stone towards the formation of the iconic Swedish House Mafia. While many still see it as one of the greatest electronic dance music tracks in recent times, it is harder to argue its impact on the scene. Acting as a collaborative side-project, the duo created something rather special with their hit track “Tell Me Why”.
